We Got Certified!

You read that right! We took a week long trip up to the Janome America headquarters in Mahwah, New Jersey and learned all the fine tuning techniques for various machine types. Not only did we learn those techniques, they put us to the test on various machines to make sure we knew the in's and out's of front load and drop in bobbin machines as well as sergers.

Day 1 we toured the facility. They had a warehouse full of parts, a virtual service education room, you name it. In one of the service teammate's office, they had just about every model of Janome and Elna machines you can think of along the walls.

After the tour, it was time to get to work. They had us work on a front load machine (Janome HD1000BE) to learn about every mechanical adjustment you could think of. Whether it was presser bar height, needle bar height and drop position, needle bar swing adjustment, and even removing the entire hook race unit, they had us LEARNIN'!

The next morning, they tested us all on what we learned the prior day by completely messing everything up on the machine and just said "fix it"😂 Of course in a nice way, Anthony our instructor was amazing. As some of you may know, I had a little bit of an advantage given I've been working on machines and servicing machines for a while now. So between myself and another gentleman there that has taken 5 training courses there, they made sure to mess our machines up even more😓 But guess what...

WE DID IT!😁

After our test, they got us started on the serger. I think I speak for the both of us when I say this was BY FAR our favorite machine to work on. Although it was the most frustrating one, we were just blown away by this part of class because not only was it adjusting the presser bar or needle bar and feed dogs, it was adjusting and replacing the loopers, the cutters, and learning how to reset the default tension for all 4 threads. It was just AMAZING😍

After a long day of testing and learning, we took an hour-long drive over to New York City. Years ago when I played hockey in New Jersey, I went to the 9/11 memorial on 9/11 and there really are no words to describe it. It's a feeling that's difficult to explain. Carrie had been to NYC before but had never went to the memorial so we made that our first destination. I told her about how on 9/11, they have lights shine up into the sky and paper floating in the beams of light, but I couldn't find the picture until just the other day.

After going to the memorial, we figured we would stroll around NYC and went to City Hall Plaza, the Westfield World Trade Center, and ended up at a box yard beer garden for some food and drinks to get us ready for day 3 of machine training😊

On day 3, we continued to learn about the serger and finished the day with our serger test. Once again, we passed! We worked our brains to the max, so after class, we retired to the hotel😂

Day 4 & 5, we worked on a Janome HD3000BE, a drop in bobbin machine. Once again, we took them completely apart, reassembled them, then tested. And we passed with flying colors!

All-in-all, we had a blast learning all the technical in's and out's of various machine types and already plan to go back for the longarm training and advanced training later this year!

If you have any machine servicing and repair needs, not only am I able to take care of them for you, but now Carrie is well equipped to take care of you as well😇
