"Gooooooood Tuesday morning everybody from Quilts Like Crazy and Embroidery in Wake Forest, North Carolina! How is everybody doing?"

I figure why not start the blog off the same way we start everyday on Facebook Live😂

I want to start off by introducing myself to anybody that is new to us at Quilts Like Crazy. My name is Trevor Merchant, son of owner Carrie Merchant. Since the purchase and rebrand of the store in 2018, I have been in and out around here helping with all things tech and social media (since that's what I do for a living) as well as help take care of our ever growing family (you'll come to learn that here at QLC, everyone who walks in our store is not just a customer, but becomes a part of the family #QLCfamily). You can also catch me on the Facebook Live on Tuesday mornings, and any other morning where Carrie tells me to 😝

I've been telling my mom for months, probably even years, that we should make a blog and do YouTube videos! We're both very outgoing, social, and self-proclaimed hilarious individuals and I want the world to see our just how entertaining our family dynamic can be.

So I present you... DRUM ROLL PLEASE..... Family Sewcial!

We Got Certified!

You read that right! We took a week long trip up to the Janome America headquarters in Mahwah, New Jersey and learned all the fine tuning techniques for various machine types. Not only did we learn those techniques, they put us to the test on various machines to make sure we knew the in's and out's of front load and drop in bobbin machines as well as sergers. Day 1 we toured the facility. They had a warehouse full of parts, a virtual service education room, you name it. In one of the service teammate's office, they had just about every model of Janome and Elna machines you can think of along the walls.  After the tour, it was time to get to work. They had us work on a front load machine (Janome HD1000BE) to learn about every mechanical adjustment you could think of. I started ANOTHER quilting project...

We’ve all been there… Just when you’ve gotten a project underway, you set it aside and say “I’ll finish it later”. But later never comes, anytime soon that is. And then next thing you know, another project comes your way and you remember that excitement you felt the last time you started a new project!  Well, fam, it happened to me today   At the moment, I'm working on a "block of the month" at our store called Summer Moon by Carrie Nelson. I was talking to some ladies at the shop one day about how I just can't seem to stick to one project and complete it before finding something new to work on, and they suggested that I join them in working on Summer Moon this year. I thought to myself "maybe if I had these people holding me accountable, I would somehow dedicate all my quilting time to just that one project." I was wrong... QLC at Central Carolina Quilt Fair 2024

This past weekend, we attended the 2024 Central Carolina Quilt Fair hosted by the Salisbury Rowan Quilters Guild as a vendor and we had a blast! The Merchant kids got to run the show so you can already bet that we had fun😜 We started vending at quilt shows about 2 years ago. With that being said, you would think that we have a system for packing up, loading the truck up, and so on... but truthfully we do not. You would also think that we would be ready weeks in advance and not wait until the last minute to prepare everything we are bringing, but as our family has proven time and time again, we're procrastinators, but we are a sure thing! But this time around, we were packed up and ready to load the day before which is already ahead of our usual schedule!😂 We always joke about how our store is "naked" when we are vending at shows as you can see: Travis and I loaded up the truck Thursday morning and hit the road for our 2 hour drive to Salisbury, NC.
